Cold war psychological/psychosexual/psychosomatic fallout from Midwestern fuckers who (like me) were probably two when the USSR broke up. The recording is appropriately gross, in an unconventional kind of way though. The vocals are mixed uncomfortably high, and the bass sounds like it's radiating from a '90s throwback club night at the bar downstairs. The riffs are buried, but they're there if you want to do the work and dig them out. This could appeal to fans of other recent bent Midwestern interpretations of Scandi-HC and Burning Spirits composition à la ZERO (buyer beware, this one is far more damaged). GAS RAG fans might attempt to pit, but note these tracks are less sticky and glue-damaged and more antagonistic and adolescent. See the insert, presented here without comment: someone named "Beauty and the Beast" is credited as "fingerbanging that fonky bass yah." The lyric sheet smears together nuclear waste and radiation anxiety as metaphors for sexual tension and frustration (or maybe the other way around). The last track, "Sexual Frustration" has a genuine mutant mosh part, craftily dropped, denied, and brought back for anyone who's still paying attention. A withholding and punishing experience I look forward to subjecting myself to at least a few more times. (EW)
